Neda Soltan Award for Creative Solutions to Iran Election CrisisThis is a featured page

Neda Agha-Soltan has become in some ways the public face of the Iranian democracy demonstrations. She was the young woman who was killed, perhaps by police or semi-private militias, while joining a street protest.

Authorities refused her family permission to hold a memorial service in a Tehran mosque. What would Neda Soltan have wanted as her memorial? No one can know. But everyone can take a hard look at what's happening in Iran and make educated guesses as to what's needed.

The World Mind Network is honoring Neda Soltan's memory by offering an award to anyone who comes up with constructive answers for the Iranian people.

Much has been made of the fact that Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc. have spread the news of the demonstrations around the globe. But news isn't organization. Images and videos aren't practical solutions. New coalitions and institutions can't be built merely through 140 character tweets. Could the social networkers and micro-bloggers of the world help Iranian citizens take the next step in improving their society?

The World Mind Network would like to help. We are offering a one million Rial award (about 1000 euros, or 1100 dollars) for the best practical suggestions to improve Iran's political, economic, and social situation.

We have no agenda, political or otherwise. We are not anti-Islam, pro-West, or representing any party, candidate, philosophy or nation. We simply want to see the best constructive ideas all people, both inside and outside Iran, have for improving the country.
